All seminars will be presented at the SEBC Expo and Conference located at SOUTH BUILDING HALL B1 in the Orange County Convention Center – Orlando.                                                            

The SEBC offers Continuing Education for Florida Contractors. CEU courses are presented by the:         

  • Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA) Provider No. 0000916
  • Building Officials of Florida (BOAF) Provider No. 0004764

CEU courses are indicated by the term “CEU,” and list the credit hours. The price of all CEU courses is included in the One, Two and Three Day Passes. Expo Hall Passes do not allow access to ANY CEU programs offered at the SEBC.

Note that Florida contractors must attain 14 hours every two years, by August 31, of every even year. Excess hours above 14 do not carry over to the next two-year period. Individuals may check the status of their hours at www.myfloridalicense.com.

All contractors are required, as a part of the 14 hours of continuing education, to have at least one hour in each of the following areas of study: WORKERS COMPENSATION, JOB SITE (WORKPLACE) SAFETY, BUSINESS PRACTICES, LAWS AND RULES and ADVANCED MODULE BUILDNG CODE. Additionally General, Building, Residential, Roofing, Specialty Structure and Glass & Glazing contractors must complete one hour of Wind Mitigation Methodology as part of their required 14- hours. The remaining are classified as general credits.

Participants in the classes are required to sign-in and indicate their license number. It’s very important to write your license number legibly. Please note that CEUs will be electronically processed within 30 days of the class date. “Residential Energy Code for Compliance in the 2010 FBC-Energy”
The 2010 FBC-Energy is the first Florida energy code based on the International Energy Conservation Code. The IECC contains many of the same requirements found in the previous Florida code, but are listed and organized in a different manner. Additionally, there are many new provisions as well as Florida provisions that migrated as part of the consolidation. This course reviews the Residential changes and updates to allow Florida Builders to comply with this code better.

This course is designed to help builders understand the nuances of building science that impact the quality of their construction. The purpose is to help reduce callbacks, liability and moisture issues through a thorough examination of the way nature affects the home. This course will overview the basic purposes of our homes, a brief history of how building has evolved and how the green and energy efficiency movement is impacting building. This course will overview all the components of both the envelope and the major equipment systems in the home. There will be some comparisons of methods of building based on the pure science apart from sales propaganda.
