Co-Location Partners
SEBC welcomes our 2013 co-location partners: the Florida Masonry Foundation and the Energy & Environmental Building Alliance. As the construction industry begins to rebound, SEBC still understands that exhibitors and attendees need to pick and choose where to showcase or what trade show to attend, and so our quest to bring like-trade organizations to the Southeast Building Conference continues. We know that oin 2013, both of these organizations bring a wealth of knowledge for prodcuts and services as well as outstanding educational sessions.
In doing so we are able to offer the homebuilding industry one trade show where attendees can see, learn and network with a larger variety of companies involved in all aspects of construction.
Join us July 11-13 in the SOUTH BUILDING HALL B1 as we welcome back the Florida Masonry Foundation with their full line-up of educational programs, live showfloor demonstrations and 2 statewide Masonry Competitions - Fastest Trowel and the Apprentice Program. Looking for Intensive Educaiton on selling energy efficient and green homes then check out our new partners 3-day lineup of programs that include the Houses That Work and Selling High Performance Homes.

“New, Fresh Designs that Buyers Crave”
In a recent survey, 75% of homeowners said they are willing to move but only for the right design. Buyers tell us they want to buy, but only new, fresh and engaging offerings in both product and process. Does this describe what you are offering right now? Knowing what to do next is the big design challenge. This program will explore the demographics and the design ideas that deliver to stay ahead of the curve and on top of the market.

Sales
“Buyers Vs. Sellers – Are you Ready?”
Do you think attracting, capturing and selling to customers become more complicated? Control of the information is a key selling factor in successful face-to-face selling. In fact, there’s an old sales axiom “Whoever controls the information controls the dialogue, and whoever controls the dialogue controls the sales process”. From 2000 to 2007 more and more buyer’s used the Internet to search for a home. Under normal market conditions this would have provided buyers with more power and control of the sales process; however, the unprecedented high demand for housing offset the loss of information control and allowed sellers to use buyer urgency as a tool to control the sales process. The collapse of the housing market quickly shifted the control of the sales process towards buyers. The dramatic changes in the market since 2007 complicated and permanently changed the sales and marketing environment within the building industry. This program will discuss how the sales and marketing environment has become more complicated and explain what homebuilders, vendors and suppliers must do to thrive in this new reality.

“New Home Sales: How to UNVEIL and MAGNIFY the CUSTOMER URGENCY!”
URGENCY is NOT Created! There is an old school box called “Create Urgency” and today’s New Home Sales PROfessional must escape from it to be successful in the new marketplace. Christine Hamilton shares a fresh perspective in the art of new home sales and a proactive mindset of now. In this workshop, participants will learn what questions to ask to better understand the customer’s situation, their problems and the ensuing implications. The best takeaway will be how to effectively lead and support your customers in moving forward with a “Yes” buying decision today!

“Downsizing America”
For the past 3 decades Americans have accumulated more possessions than in the previous 100 years! Much of this has to do with the phenomenal success of some 50 million baby boomers. In the past 18 months, this trend has dramatically changed. As these aging baby boomers hit retirement age there is a sudden and dramatic need to rid themselves of all of the years of accumulations. The impacts in many industries will be monumental and, having a fundamental understanding of the psychological, emotional and logistical realities of those faced with a major “downsize” is an essential part of managing the estates of our aging boomers.

“Marketing your High Performance Homes”
This seminar will focus on the effective marketing of Hi-Performance homes that might include:
-ESHP builder sales numbers that will inspire and how these builders market their Hi-Performance homes.
-Their reported cost to build vs. typical construction. (We have a builder in Palm Beach who reports that since he saves more than 50% in HVAC materials, building Hi-Performance homes to ESHP specs, cost less than his past code minimum homes!)
-Hi-Performance Homes can be built with products typically found in any builder supply store, with trades a builder's trades already possess.
-Actual home owner surveys resulting from our Research Partnership with the DOE.
-Actual energy bills reported in Energy Smart Home Plans, DOE case studies. (Not just HERS Index scores.)
-The effectiveness and impact of significantly lower Monthly Cost of Ownership of Hi-Performance homes.
-Discuss actual programs available that reward Hi-Performance builders, that adds right to their bottom line. (With Progress Energy's 4K incentive to builders whose homes score a 55 HERS or less, it's less expensive than building to minimum standards.)
-Discuss the obvious financial benefits in the consumption of half of the energy of a typical home, but the environmental benefit as well.
-There are 269 green programs in the US all are based on lower energy consumption, (HERS Index) so why are so many builders and even fewer home buyers, aware?

“Get Paid for Your Time – Estimating, Bidding and Pre-Construction”
Increased government regulations, more challenging designs, more complicated construction methods, green building practices and an overwhelming selection of products from which to choose create considerably more time to get a project from an idea to actual construction. Most professionals think all of the work in the pre-construction phase (commonly referred to as estimating) is done complimentary and the payoff occurs once construction starts. Too often builders and remodelers give away their time to homeowners and to projects that never make it off the ground or even to the drawing board. This course is about getting paid for your time every step of the way and feeling comfortable doing it - professionals will learn that having a process in place not only brings in revenue before construction but it also gives their company credibility and creates a good business relationship with consumers.

Four Great Reasons How 30 Minutes Can Help You Sell More Homes
Did you know there is a new approach to marketing model homes and that return on emotion always leads to return on investment? In 90 minutes, our highly experienced team of professionals can provide an exciting visual, educational, interactive and trend-forward demonstration that will help builders sell more homes! What a builder’s sales staff knows about trends and lifestyle could help close the next sale. Our program visually introduces family experiences which sells homes and will help educate builders on how to move people from dreaming to purchasing a new home – teach is the new sell!
This unique program leverages industry experience, design talents and trend expertise to introduce such specifics as:
- 1. COLOR EXPERTISE – Buying groups react differently to color. Our color research is the most comprehensive in the industry and the latest color palettes are targeted to a builder’s demographic, not personal taste.
- 2.GENERATIONAL EXPERTISE – We have teamed with generational experts for uncompromised knowledge of potential buyers that is then demonstrated in how a builder should merchandise a model home from Gen NOW to Zoomers.
- 3.CONSUMER EXPERTISE – We know that the decision maker in 9 out of 10 home purchases is the woman and we are experts in demonstrating what women want in their retail experience of purchasing a home!
- 4.RETAIL EXPERTISE – Our program demonstrates how to create emotional retail environments that act as a “silent salesperson,” keeping the potential buyer engaged in the model home longer. Plus, we will share the latest trends information from all the recent industry trade shows that will give a builder’s design center and sales people confidence to promote and sell what is “in” and, most importantly, that they don’t promote what is “out.”
